Understanding Linear Regression

Linear regression finds the best-fitting straight line through your data points. The line is defined by the equation y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

Regression Components

Slope (m):

The rate of change in Y for every one unit increase in X. A positive slope means Y increases as X increases.

Intercept (b):

The value of Y when X equals 0. This is where the regression line crosses the Y-axis.

R-Squared:

The proportion of variance in Y that is explained by X. Values range from 0 to 1, with higher values indicating a better fit.
